- Markers of the aversiveness of pain as the driving factor in chronic pain, underlying brain networks and neurochemical mechanisms, with a focus on dopaminergic processes
- Psychobiology of the interaction of pain and reward; effects of the pain-reward interaction on perception, decision-making, and learning; the role of dopamine and endogenous opioids, functional neural correlates and brain circuitries
